If you lose or mislay the Title Deeds to your property, or if they should get destroyed, replacement is an expensive and time-consuming process and one in which you may need your Solicitor’s involvement. Once you have repaid the mortgage in full and the deeds are handed to you, their safekeeping is entirely your own responsibility.

DeedCare is a service provided by the Barnsley for borrowers who are about to complete the repayment of their mortgage.

The Society keeps your Deeds in the security of our own strongroom, with inspection, permitted if required, at a mutually convenient time.

Insurance On Your Home

With DeedCare, the only requirement is to continue with insurance through the block policy as it is at the present time. Should you be covered for buildings only, then why not ask for a ‘no obligation’ quote for one of our combined buildings and contents schemes, which can include buildings, contents, personal possessions and accidental damage all in one policy. Transfer to such cover, if required, can be effected at any time.

How Does Deedcare Work?

Very simply! Instead of repaying your mortgage in full you keep your account open with a token amount of £1, and your insurance cover remains on the block policy. The insurance premium can either be paid in full in January of each year or by monthly instalments.
