The personnel who you will be meeting with to discuss your requirements are all qualified mortgage advisers who will take your needs and circumstances into consideration. All our processes strictly adhere to the Financial Services Authority mortgage regulatory process, which we have built into our own customer service standards, to ensure your understanding of the process.

Customer service and customer based awards

The Society has won a number of customer service and community based awards in recent years and we are committed to providing on-going training to ensure our levels remain consistently high. We evaluate these service levels with the assistance of an independent assessment programme, where every branch is visited anonymously every three months with a variety of scenarios. Their reports allow us to make any necessary improvements quickly and efficiently ensuring that you receive our best.

Locally based decision making

As an organisation we are far from small, but we do operate regionally, so we both know and work closely with your area. We are compact with all Head Office administration functions based in Barnsley where decisions are made by a team of experienced professionals whom your local branch will speak with often throughout a working day. Because of this we are able to provide solutions tailored for your personal requirements.

Flexible mortgage application assessment

The mortgage team assesses each mortgage application on an individual basis. Unlike a number of our competitors we do not operate a stringent scoring system which each mortgage has to fit within to be deemed acceptable and because of this we are able to take more of your personal circumstances into consideration. Our many years’ experience has shown that no two sets of circumstances are ever quite the same.

Additional assistance and services available with the mortgage process

Should you wish to borrow additional funds at a later date for home improvements or other personal circumstances, that option is available to you and you need only make contact with your local branch to inform them of your future plans and they will be pleased to start the process.

Over many years, the Society has developed strong locally based relationships with professionals whose working practices complement our required service levels. Should you require, we can recommend solicitors and legal services, independent valuers and links for specialist insurance to suit a variety of requirements.

We have a competitive range of Home and Contents insurance, which we can provide quotations for at the mortgage interview, should you wish to make a comparison.

You can protect your mortgage against Accident Sickness or Unemployment and have full peace of mind that, should the worst occur, your mortgage payments are covered and either your personal circumstances or family need not be disturbed until the situation is rectified.

As your home is most likely to be your most expensive purchase to date, a new mortgage situation provides a good opportunity to take stock of your current situation. Your new arrangements can also offer the right time to look into providing some future security, which will assist in clearing your debt, should the worst happen.

Much of our business comes through recommendation from our members and this obviously has a positive impact on our advertising budget. Rather than keep that to ourselves, we’ve decided to share it out and have introduced a Recommend a Friend and Family scheme, which returns the amount of £50, to the person who recommends someone to us for a mortgage.

We appreciate that every now and again circumstances arise that leave you unable to keep your appointment. If you need to cancel your appointment, please let us know in advance and we will be happy to arrange another at a more suitable time.

All our mortgage appointments are arranged to suit the individual and therefore we do experience high demand at certain times of the week and particularly on Saturdays. If we know in advance that we have free appointment time, we can offer its availability to others.
